If they are really thin, try water effects. I saw that as a tip on James blog, and on another blog when they were working on the nid drop pod. It is kinda of thick, so fills the seams, then just pull it smooth and let it dry. It dries clear, and can be painted/primed over.
Treat it a bit like caulk. Kinda of get it in the seem, then smooth it out with your finger or a sculpting tool if you are a fancy pants. :) Hope it works for you!
My devil-fish still gives me nightmares. At least rhinos have strait edges.
